Bio
Born in Cambridge UK, Mark rose to critical acclaim at the age of 25 following the daily national broadcast of his world’s first interactive arts and cultural engagement platform LIVELIVE Project, a strategic cultural delivery collaboration between the BBC, Tate Modern, Arts Council UK and the International Olympic Committee for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Spanning over twelve years, Mark’s portfolio of creative leadership, cultural innovation and delivery, for both private and public sector clients, has directly engaged over 48 million individuals to date, currently informs governmental policy throughout the United Kingdom, and continues to shape public engagement and cultural strategy for Tokyo 2020/21, Arts Council England and TheSpace.org.
In 2015, Mark was recognized as an individual with extraordinary ability in the arts by the US for his impactful contribution towards art as a tool for positive social, political and economic change. Mark continues to provide bespoke engagement, management and strategic solutions for leading disruptors within the cultural and creative sectors via SMIT - facilitating the needs of an international client base, inclusive of the USA, Europe, Australia and Japan. Mark is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.
“All public space is creative space - a space of collaboration, discovery, learning, inclusivity & togetherness. In jointly developing cultural experiences with the public, an active community is formed - a collaborative network as sculpture. This is art for all.”
“Having been fundamental in the design, commission and facilitation of some of the world’s most widely engaged arts and cultural programming solutions and policies, working across both public and private cultural bodies and foundations, my work to date has actively impacted an audience aggregate of over 48 million - with one project reaching over 73% of the UK population within a single year...
Collaborators and adopters of my work include some of our industry’s leading cultural engagement disruptors, such as Arts Council UK, The British Broadcasting Corporation, LOCOG, Tate Galleries, The LGBT Center, MAPP International, The New School, the New York Public Library.”
